6 years after the anime ended, a live-action version of Sailor Moon aired on Japanese TV and was loosely based on the first arc of the manga. Much of the action was filmed on location in Tokyo, and provided amazing CGI effects such as attacks and transformations. The story takes place over 49 episodes (called "acts"), with one prequel (Act Zero) and a Special Act. It did very well in its regular timeslot

Plot
14-year-old Usagi Tsukino is your normal Japanese schoolgirl. She's not the best student in her class, and would rather sing karaoke at the Crown Karaoke Parlor than study. Her favorite star is popular idol Minako Aino
But one day, a plush toy cat falls out of the sky and lands on Usagi's head. The cat's name is Luna, and she's been searching for the reluctant teen because Usagi is one of the Sailor Guardians that protect the Moon Princess. Along with genius classmate Ami (Sailor Mercury), shrine maiden Rei (Sailor Mars), tough tomboy Makoto (Sailor Jupiter) and Minako herself (Sailor Venus), the Guardians battle the evil forces of Queen Beryl's Dark Kingdom, who has plans to take over the world. Little does Usagi know that she herself is the Moon Princess, and must reverse the tragedies that befell her past life

This was a special concert performance by the PGSM cast filmed in May 2004 at Tokyo's Yomiuri Hall (the location for Minako's concert scene in Act 35) for winners of a promotional contest called the Sailormoon Campaign. Guest starring was Sae, who performed the show's theme song "Kirari*Sailor Dream"
In this special storyline interwoven between songs from the series, the Sailor Guardians must stop the Shitennou from stealing the energy of the audience and rescue Sailor Luna

PGSM Special Act
This one-hour special act takes place 4 years after the girls' last battle, they are now 18 years old. Ami is a doctor in America, Rei is studying the ways of the miko in the Kyoto mountains, Makoto is dating Motoki and working as a florist, while Minako is in England working on her new album. But the big news is...Usagi and Mamoru are getting married! However, Rei is injured by a mysterious force and Kuroki Mio (Alisa) returns as the self-proclaimed Queen of the World with designs on making Mamoru her king. It's a race against time for the girls to find the legendary Spirit of the Senshi sword and reclaim their powers for one last battle against Mio
